- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
- Place the chicken (about 1.5 to 2 pounds of chicken breasts or thighs) in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
- Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours for more flavor.
- Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the marinade.
- Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side, or bake in the oven at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a zesty twist, add the juice of one lemon to the marinade.
- Substitute the honey with maple syrup for a different sweet flavor profile.
