Description

A deliciously creamy and cheesy cauliflower gratin topped with Gruyère cheese, perfect as a side dish or a main course.


Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, steam the cauliflower florets until tender, about 10 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, salt, and pepper, and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add half of the grated Gruyère cheese and stir until melted.
  6. In a baking dish, combine steamed cauliflower and cheese sauce. Mix well.
  7. Top with remaining Gruyère and breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden and bubbling.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs such as thyme or parsley.
  • Substitute half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
