Description

The Chicken Philly Cheesesteak Skillet Recipe is a delicious and easy meal that combines tender chicken, colorful vegetables, and gooey cheese, all cooked in one skillet. It’s perfect for busy weeknights or when you want to impress your family and friends without spending hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts – diced into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil – for sautéing the chicken and vegetables
  • 1 medium onion – sliced thinly for sweetness
  • 1 green bell pepper – sliced for crunch and color
  • 1 red bell pepper – sliced for added sweetness
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms – for an earthy flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic – minced for aromatic goodness
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning – to enhance the flavor
  • Salt and pepper – to taste
  • 1 cup provolone cheese – shredded for that melty goodness
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream – to create a rich sauce
  • Fresh parsley – chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced chicken breasts, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-6 minutes until tender. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, pour in 1/4 cup of heavy cream, and stir to combine.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded provolone cheese over the mixture, cover the skillet, and reduce heat to low. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use a large skillet to ensure even cooking.
  • Cut chicken into uniform pieces for even cooking.
  • Monitor heat to prevent burning vegetables.
  • Cover the skillet to melt cheese evenly.
