Description

Fried Cabbage with Shrimp and Sausage is a delicious and satisfying meal that combines smoked sausage, succulent shrimp, and fresh cabbage, perfect for a keto lifestyle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced (such as kielbasa or andouille)
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash and chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  3. Slice the smoked sausage into rounds.
  4. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the sausage until browned.
  5. Remove the sausage and set aside.
  6. Add the remaining butter to the skillet, sauté the onion until translucent, then add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  7. Add the shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through.
  8. Add the chopped cabbage and season with paprika, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  9. Cook the cabbage until tender and slightly caramelized.
  10. Return the sausage to the skillet, drizzle with apple cider vinegar, and stir to combine.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Use a large skillet to avoid overcrowding.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp to prevent a rubbery texture.
  • Adjust seasonings to taste.
  • For a crunchier cabbage, reduce cooking time.
