Description
Greek Kataifi is a traditional dessert made with shredded phyllo dough, filled with a sweet nut mixture, and drenched in syrup.

- 1 package kataifi pastry
- 2 cups walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup almonds, chopped
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar for syrup
- 1/2 cup honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix walnuts, almonds, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Unroll the kataifi pastry and loosen the strands with your fingers.
- Brush a baking dish with melted butter and layer half of the kataifi pastry in the dish.
- Spread the nut mixture over the kataifi.
- Top with the remaining kataifi and drizzle with more melted butter.
- Bake for about 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water, sugar, and honey until dissolved.
- Once the kataifi is out of the oven, pour the syrup over it while it is still hot.
- Let it cool before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to keep the kataifi pastry covered while working to prevent it from drying out.
- You can substitute the nuts based on your preference.
