Description
A traditional Icelandic fish stew made with cod and potatoes, seasoned with aromatic herbs.
Ingredients

- 1 pound cod fillets
- 2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon chopped dill
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender; drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and cook until translucent.
- Whisk in flour, then gradually add milk to create a thick sauce.
- Flake the cooked cod and stir into the sauce along with the potatoes, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring gently.
- Stir in the parsley and dill before serving.
Notes
- Can be served with rye bread for a traditional touch.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
