Description

A traditional savory pastry filled with a delicious mixture of meats, potatoes, and spices, popular in Bolivia.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 cups diced potatoes
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 hard-boiled egg, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 recipe for dough


Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  2. Add the onions and garlic, sautƩ until translucent.
  3. Stir in the cumin, paprika, and diced potatoes. Cook until the potatoes are tender.
  4. Mix in green peas and chopped hard-boiled egg. Season with salt, then remove from heat.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut into circles. Place filling in the center, fold and crimp edges to seal.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add jalapeƱos to the filling.
  • These pastries can be frozen before baking.
  • Serve with a side of spicy salsa for dipping.
