Description
Kefta (Spiced Meatballs) are flavorful meatballs made with a blend of spices and fresh herbs, perfect for elevating your meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get approximately 20 meatballs.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the meatballs from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the kefta with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the meat mixture.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the meat with a mixture of cooked lentils and finely chopped vegetables, adjusting the spices to taste.
