Description

A delicious and flavorful Keto Bobotie with an almond crust, perfect for a low-carb diet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon erythritol or your preferred low-carb sweetener
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the ground beef or lamb, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Add the curry powder, turmeric, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, erythritol, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and almond milk. Gradually add the almond flour to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
  7. Fold the meat mixture into the egg and almond mixture until well combined.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish or baking dish. Sprinkle the slivered almonds evenly over the top.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set in the center.
  10. Let the bobotie cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider serving the bobotie with a side of cauliflower rice.
  • You can substitute the ground beef or lamb with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
