- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to wilt.
- Pour in the chicken broth and cover the skillet. Let it cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
- If using, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and cover the skillet again for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, try using different types of sausage, such as Italian or chorizo.
- You can add other low-carb vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for more variety.
