Ingredients

  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to wilt.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and cover the skillet. Let it cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  5. If using, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and cover the skillet again for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
