Description

A delicious Keto-friendly recipe for German Bratwurst served with a creamy sauerkraut mash.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound bratwurst sausages
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the bratwurst and cook for about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove the bratwurst from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the sauerkraut and caraway seeds, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Slice the bratwurst and return it to the skillet, mixing it with the sauerkraut mash. Cook for another 2 minutes to heat everything together.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try adding a teaspoon of mustard to the sauerkraut mash.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add some diced jalapeños or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the skillet when cooking the onions.
