Description
Keto Spiced Churros with Mexican Chocolate Sauce delightfully satisfy cravings!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup coconut flour
- 1/4 cup monk fruit sweetener (or your favorite keto sweetener)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (for frying)
For the Rich Chocolate Dip:
- 1/2 cup unsweetened dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup monk fruit sweetener (or your favorite keto sweetener)
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the almond flour, coconut flour, monk fruit sweetener, baking powder, ground cinnamon, allspice, and sea salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, coconut milk, and almond extract until fully blended.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a cohesive dough forms. If the dough feels overly moist, allow it to rest for a few minutes to firm up.
- In a deep pan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat until shimmering.
- Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle. Pipe 4 to 6-inch lengths of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with kitchen scissors. Fry until they achieve a golden-brown color, approximately 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- To prepare the chocolate dip, melt the dark chocolate chips with heavy cream, monk fruit sweetener, almond extract, and ground cinnamon in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and warmed through.
- Serve the cinnamon twists warm, lightly sprinkled with additional monk fruit sweetener and cinnamon, accompanied by the rich chocolate dip for a delightful treat.
Notes
- For an extra crunch, fry the twists a minute longer.
- For a hint of heat, consider adding a dash of chili powder to the chocolate dip.
