Description

Korean Galbi-Jjim is a hearty, flavorful dish made with braised short ribs, vegetables, and a rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Soak the beef short ribs in cold water for 30 minutes to remove blood.
  2. In a large pot, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and water. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the soaked beef short ribs and bring back to a simmer. Cover and braise on low heat for about 2 hours.
  4. Add the onion and carrots, then cook for another 30-40 minutes, until the meat is tender.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For best flavor, marinate the beef short ribs overnight.
  • Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
