Description

A traditional Scandinavian cured salmon dish, flavored with lemon and dill.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh salmon fillet
  • 1/4 cup coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 lemon, zested


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together salt, sugar, black pepper, dill, and lemon zest.
  2. Place half of the mixture in a shallow dish, then place the salmon on top, skin-side down.
  3. Spread the remaining mixture over the salmon.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and place a weight on top.
  5. Refrigerate for 24-48 hours.
  6. Once cured, rinse the salmon and slice thinly to serve.

  • Can be served with bagels, cream cheese, and capers.
