Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, shredded (about 4 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash the cabbage thoroughly and slice it into thin strips.
  2. Chop the bacon into small pieces and mince the garlic.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside, leaving the fat in the skillet.
  4. Add unsalted butter to the skillet and let it melt. Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  5. Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender but still crunchy.
  6. Sprinkle onion powder, salt, and pepper over the cabbage. Add red pepper flakes if desired, and drizzle with apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine.
  7. Return the crispy bacon to the skillet and stir gently. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.
