Description

Low-Carb Cheese Taco Shells are a delicious and easy keto-friendly alternative to traditional taco shells, made primarily from cheese and perfect for filling with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon almond flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, almond flour, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Add the egg to the cheese mixture and stir until fully combined. The mixture should be sticky and hold together.
  4. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a circle about 4 inches in diameter. Repeat with the remaining mixture, leaving space between each scoop.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the cheese rounds cool for a minute. While still warm, gently lift each round and drape it over a rolling pin or an upside-down bowl to form a taco shape. Allow them to cool completely in this shape to hold their form.
  7. Once cooled, fill the taco shells with your favorite keto-friendly fillings, such as seasoned ground beef, lettuce, avocado, and sour cream.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
  • You can experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or gouda, for unique flavors.
