Description

Delicious and healthy gourmet dish made with portobello mushrooms as a base for pizza.


Ingredients

  • 8 large portobello mushroom caps
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Clean the portobello mushroom caps with a damp paper towel and remove the stems.
  3. Place the mushroom caps, gill side up, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Season the mushrooms with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
  5. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce into each mushroom cap, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce in each cap.
  7. Top the cheese with sliced pepperoni or any other toppings of your choice.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
