Description

Crispy Turnip Sticks with Zesty Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large turnips, peeled and sliced into sticks (approximately 2 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • For the Zesty Dipping Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the turnip sticks with olive oil, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the turnips are well-coated in the seasoning.
  3. Arrange the turnip sticks in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time, until they are beautifully golden and crispy.
  4. While the turnips are roasting, make the zesty dipping sauce. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, hot sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  5. Once the turnip sticks are finished baking, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Serve them warm alongside the zesty dipping sauce for a delightful snack.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper to the turnip sticks before baking.
  • If you want a milder sauce, reduce the amount of hot sauce in the dipping sauce.
