Description

A flavorful dish featuring spiced lamb chops topped with a zesty chakalaka butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds lamb chops (about 8 chops)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon chakalaka sauce (or your favorite spicy tomato relish)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the lamb chops.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once hot, add the lamb chops and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  5. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5 minutes.
  6. While the lamb is resting, prepare the chakalaka butter by combining the softened butter, chakalaka sauce, lemon juice, and parsley in a medium bowl.
  7. Mix until well combined.
  8. To serve, place the lamb chops on a plate and top each chop with a generous dollop of chakalaka butter.

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of chakalaka sauce in the butter or use a mild salsa instead.
  • Serve with a side of grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
