Description
A flavorful dish featuring spiced lamb chops topped with a zesty chakalaka butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds lamb chops (about 8 chops)
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon chakalaka sauce (or your favorite spicy tomato relish)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the lamb chops.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, add the lamb chops and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5 minutes.
- While the lamb is resting, prepare the chakalaka butter by combining the softened butter, chakalaka sauce, lemon juice, and parsley in a medium bowl.
- Mix until well combined.
- To serve, place the lamb chops on a plate and top each chop with a generous dollop of chakalaka butter.
Notes
- For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of chakalaka sauce in the butter or use a mild salsa instead.
- Serve with a side of grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
