Description

A delicious and easy recipe for homemade sugar-free ketchup that is perfect for those looking to reduce sugar intake without sacrificing flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz tomato paste
  • 3 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp low-carb sugar substitute (such as monk fruit or erythritol)
  • 1 tsp pink Himalayan salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 whole cloves (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the tomato paste, white vinegar, water, low-carb sugar substitute, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cloves (if using) until well combined.
  2. Cover the saucepan with a lid and place it over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  3. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After 20 minutes, turn off the heat and remove the cloves from the mixture.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then pour it into a blender. Blend for about 30 seconds or until you achieve a silky, smooth texture.
  6. Transfer the blended ketchup into a jar or squeeze bottle and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a spicier ketchup, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few drops of hot sauce to the mixture before blending.
  • If you prefer a sweeter ketchup, adjust the amount of low-carb sugar substitute to taste, keeping in mind that different sweeteners may have varying levels of sweetness.
