Description

A deliciously creamy and sweet sago pudding dessert inspired by Thai flavors.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sago pearls
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup pandan leaves (optional)


Instructions

  1. Rinse the sago pearls under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Bring the water to a boil in a pot, then add the sago pearls.
  3. Cook the sago, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes or until they become translucent.
  4. Drain the cooked sago and rinse with cold water.
  5. In a separate saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Add the cooked sago to the coconut milk mixture and stir well.
  7. If using pandan leaves, tie them in a knot and add to the mixture for flavor.
  8. Simmer for another 5 minutes on low heat.
  9. Remove from heat, let it cool, and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For added flavor, soak the sago pearls in coconut milk for an hour before cooking.
  • This dessert can be topped with fresh fruits or served with additional coconut milk.
